Dally 0 – 14 St. Patrick’s

… And so the journey continues, through the discomfort of hard rocks on our sensitive feet, surviving the splinters buried into our flesh from the overgrown weeds and sticks in our path. Friends we made in good and hard times, friends we lost along the way. However, the belief we have in the purpose of this journey keeps our spirits up under St. Patrick’s.

Dally Football Academy was the opposition to kick-start the dawn of a new era. The summer transfer market opened the door for Gallagher to join the team and was immediately put to good use. Within minutes of the kick-off the team was purring. The new partnership of Beau and Reilly in the centre of defense acquitted themselves very well. The opening goal however came as an unfortunate OG that was testament to our early domination and unrelenting pressing. Gallagher had gone through a couple of times from deep but had fluffed his lines. But when he was put through fifteen minutes in by Jamie he made no mistake, rounding off the keeper to increase our lead. At the back we kept things secure with Lennon starting in goals, Joseph on the right and Ollie on the left. A screening midfield of Mairtin on the left, Tyler on the right and the centre locked down by Dom, Dylan & Gallagher with Jamie leading the line. Joe, Euan and Ricky would come off from the bench. Dally really struggled to contain us once we got going. Jamie rounded the keeper to score from a Ricky through ball, Gallagher converted a pass from Ricky and Dom was there to finish off an effort from Dylan that rebounded off the post.

In the second half there was more miser in store for Dally. Dylan’s shot on goal was parried by the keeper into Ricky’s path who scores from a tight angle. Euan’s first touch as he came on was a header to put Ricky through on goal for a brilliant goal. Euan followed up with an instinctive left foot snapshot from the Dally’s keeper goal kick. The goals kept on coming as our constant pressure and fluid movement going forward carved out more chances. Tyler from left delivered a great diagonal ball to release Euan who calmly lifted the ball over the keeper and into the net. Dom was next on the scoresheet pouncing on a loose ball to strike. He followed up with an assist for Dylan to open his account. As we headed to the end of the game a hat-trick of hat-tricks was rounded off. Gallagher puts Euan through to strike low into the far corner for his hat-trick. Gallagher then got his own hat-trick finishing off a lifted ball from Dylan at the back post. Dom rounded off the series with a clinical finish from outside the box to record the third hat-trick of the game.

… and as masters of our own destiny we’ll go on to write our own story, an account of resilience, endurance and love for our children and the game.
